Kallangur lies about 27 km north of the Brisbane CBD, between the North Coast railway line and the Bruce Highway, with Anzac Avenue as its main road. The name comes from a Kabi word meaning a good or satisfactory place. From 1918 it was a soldier settlement area of dairies, vegetable farms and pineapples, and residential growth along Anzac Avenue began in the late 1960s. Kallangur station opened on the Redcliffe Peninsula line in 2016.
Around 21,800 people lived in Kallangur at the 2021 Census, with a median age of 35.
The local economy. Anzac Avenue is Kallangur's main business strip, with Kallangur Fair and Lillybrook Shopping Village serving the area. Technicians and trades workers are the largest occupation group, alongside a wide mix of retail, health, hospitality, professional and home-based businesses.
